Statement:

I list my profile under "sculpture" because I use my hands - to create the raw material I use (salt clay) and  to craft (create) a piece born from my inspiration which is everyday life - my son and his friends are musical - each one now "wears" their "musical instrument", handcrafted from salt clay.  They think it is sooo cool!  There is a beautiful gardenia bush outside my studio window and the blossoms have been another muse; businesses, people, family, friends, pets, all have prompted my creative energy to flow.

I never know what I will make when I take clay in hand, but the journey is always exciting and satisfying.  In other words, I love what I do, and I can't stop doing it!

Background:

As a young artist, I was trained in charcoal drawing and oil painting.  I still enjoy and am productive on paper and canvas.  Much of this work is on display in private homes, and of course in my own home, either on the walls, or stacked against them in the studio.

I have always been fascinated with sculpting, but I've never had the chance to work in marble (something I would still love to try), so when I came across the recipe for Victorian Salt Clay, I jumped at the chance to try my hand at "sculpting" in this medium.

Fortunately, I have been able to do a decent job of satisfying my "hunger" to sculpt using this medium.  I'm enjoying it all, and hope you like at least something you see.
