LITERATURE: POETRY

Statement:
I don't really like to think of myself as a "good" poet since every person has their own opinion of what's good and what's not. What I strive for is to be an "accurate" one...to convey what I see as truths in everyday life and paint a vivid picture of it in words.
Background:
Growing up in Generation X, I guess it's only natural that quite a few of us didn't really know what to do with ourselves. Initially, I saw this as a sort of void...a lack of direction or purpose. Gradually, my outlook evolved to one of inspiration. We were not lacking in direction. Rather we were presented with an infinite number of posibilities and opportunities. We didn't just take the road less travelled...we took them all.
Concrete Jungle Dweller
One of my first poems ever, and the first where I tried to pay close attention to the meter. For those reading it for the first time, it may be a little confusing. The rhythm of the poem is... 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4,5 repeat A little off here and there, but not a horrid attempt I don't think.Completion Date: 1999
